The moderate GOP and I have different definitions of the term moderate. They are, at best, MAGA-lite.

So there's one petiton that will get no Republican votes because:.... usual reasons and not even all Democratic votes since a handful are afraid of losing some voters opposed to Israel, and the other petition seems to have no support at all for some reason - 14 votes? Well, one more thing to give up on wishing for. To go along with trump ever facing federal consequences due to our federal court system's endless options for delays and appeals if you have enough money, I guess.

Time to make certain everyone of the republicans elected in districts Biden won pays a price for dithering on Ukraine. The whole republican house needs to pay a steep price for dithering on Ukraine.

Your political insights are worth every penny of the paltry (in terms of benefits derived) but significant (in terms of my budget) subscription fee to The Bulwark but your asides are pearls beyond price.

It's disgusting that the so-called "Moderate" Republicans apparently are only going to use the discharge petition process for virtue-signaling rather than for moving the legislation, but not that surprising. What's really depressing, though, is that the total signatures for both petitions is nowhere near the magic number, at least so far.

I keep calling Johnson to remind him how many Ukrainians have died because of him.

(“Dueling” is probably the wrong metaphor, though; it’s more like they are each sitting in a waiting room without an appointment...) Joe - Love your turn of phrase and this metaphor! Delightful!!

Why isn't Victoria Spartz supporting the McGovern petition and encouraging other Republicans to do so? Does she not care about her native Ukraine anymore?

Thanks Joe, for keeping us updated about where those petitions to advance approve the aid to Ukraine are in the House of Reps process. Seems like all-in-all, the House GOP is onboard with Trump's decision to let the current country of Ukraine get devoured by the Russians. Hard to guess Trump's reason, methinks that perhaps Trump hopes to get funded by one of Putin's oligarchs? A stunning and shameful action by the party that formerly nominated Ronald Reagan.

Any word on what's in the government funding agreement that's apparently just been agreed?

Is it possible that this includes funding for Ukraine? I would hope so since this is a forcing function...

You are killing it, Joe! Great addition to the Bulwark!

Thanks for sharing This Old Ledge. I haven't watched any of it yet, but it sounds to me a lot like something Roman Mars (99% Invisible) would groove on.

Joe has been on it since the start. Ukraine aid is dead. There just isn’t any forcing function and as long as republican voters won’t punish their elected officials for not passing aid then what’s the point? Why feel the pain if you can just move along to get along.
